Our mission is to increase the numbers of minority physicians in the United States. Statistics show that out of a total of 49,480 applicants to medical schools in 2014,  about 41% or 20,343 were accepted to enroll. Out of these 49,480 applicants only 3990 were from African American students and, of those, only 1,412 were accepted into US medical schools in 2014. Of those 1,412 black faces, approximately 2/3rds are female and 1/3rd are males. This means that approximately 465 black men and 947 black women nationwide will begin the 7-10 year long process to become physicians in 2014. This amounts to a staggering 2.3% African American male presence and 4.7% African American female presence in US medical schools. Hispanic and Latino enrollees represent only 9%  and American Indians only 1%. This data has not changed significantly in 2020. This does not mirror the society that we as physicians serve. There are approximately 45 million African Americans in this country out of a total census of about 316 million people or approximately 14.2% of the US population is Black. We can and must do a better job. That is our mission . This is our goal: to increase these numbers by at least 1000 by 2025. We will need your help to achieve these numbers. These will be the future minority physicians that will service the underserved in our inner cities and poorest areas. These are the physicians that will not be afraid to enter the impoverished parts of society to render care to the elderly and homebound. These are our children that we must educate, support and nurture as they become the providers of tomorrow. Your support will help us to go into the high schools to mentor minority youth and help with tutoring in Math and Science. Your donations will help us to go into the universities, colleges and city colleges to empower our minority youth and help with tutoring, mentoring and education. These funds will assist us as we help the minority youth that are struggling to survive medical school and beyond. Your support will help us go into the community and make a real difference whether visiting those incarcerated for a motivational talk or providing support to those less fortunate than ourselves. We appreciate any help that you can give either financially , emotionally or spiritually. Together we can all make a real difference. Take the challenge. Give your support.
Thank you!
Fred Richardson, MD
